Knit :: Cool scarf from Meretes monstermønster. She links to the free pattern, don't miss that!

Sticka :: Cool halsduk från Meretes monstermønster. Hon länkar till gratismönstret, missa inte det!

I realized I have pinned a lot of animal stuff on Pinterest lately. But when I looked closer I also realized that there were a ridiculous amount of foxes. Quite unexpected, but I like the bright fox red, and the quite whimsical look of it. I wonder if I'd dare wear the fox collar to work? Would you? What are your favorite fox craft projects?

Enjoy your weekend!

Five things from Pinterest on kids' Halloween costumes | Fem halloweendräkter för barn från Pinterest

So, it's Halloween. Which isn't really a big thing in Sweden, mostly since there is a certain confusion on when Halloween actually is. They moved the holiday to the first Saturday after October 31st a few years ago, and ever since it's some kinda mayhem. Kids are trick-or-treating anytime from last weekend to the next one.

Anyway, it's always fun to dress up. And I like the American way of dressing up as anything you like, and it doesn't have to be horrifying. To look beyond vampires and ghosts are quite nice.

These are some Halloween costume favorites/Här är några Halloweenutklädnader jag gillar:

1. The gumball machine (from Inchmark) / Godisautomaten
3. Yoda (from Homemade by Jill) / Yoda
4. The cupcake (from u create) / En cupcake
And an extra special bonus: The ventriloquist dummy (from Inchmark). Very funny. / Buktalardockan. Mycket roligt.

Happy Halloween!

Five things from Pinterest on Scandinavian folklore | Fem saker jag pinnat på Pinterest om skandinavisk slöjd och handarbete

So, I've been thinking a lot about Swedish and Scandinavian folklore and handicraft lately. I really like it, and am a bit upset that I never went to the exhibition Hemslöjden at Liljewalchs in Stockholm. Oh well, the handicraft still exists to be inspired by, even though the exhibition has ended.

From Tråsnella AS

No, not all the kids in Norway look like this. At all. But isn't it the cutest? The vest is fantastic! It's a bit hard to see in the photo, but I think that both the vest and apron is actually knitted. Impressive.

Imponerande.

From Folklore Fashion

And here we have an ordinary Norwegian girl on her way to the subway... No. Just kidding. In Norway they call this outfit "bunad", it's a traditional dress that I believe is still very much used on for example the Norwegian National Day.

I guess that Norway was a bit like Sweden in the olden days, when the people were quite poor and hard working (or am I wrong here? Please correct me in that case...), but still put so much time into creating these traditional outfits. I know that the Swedish versions were made to fit a woman from adolescence to old age by being adjustable in size. Smart.

Smart.

From Ullstrumpan

There are of course possibilities to wear traditional folklore to work today, without going over the top. A pair of kurbits socks and a pair of clogs will take you a long way.

From avigan

There are bold people who don't dare bringing traditional embroidery into the 21st century. How about this iPhone case with embroidery in "svartstick" by Jessica Dalman?

From Brodösens blogg

All materials, old and new, looks better with some embroidery. Why don't you try and pimp your IKEA bag with some backstich? This one is made by Karin Holmberg, of course, do check out her blog if you like Swedish embroidery!

On Wednesday it's time for baby I's first birthday. I love kids' birthday parties, and gave my older son serious problems last spring when I happened to make him think that he absolutely needed a theme for his party, and he just couldn't pick one... I know, I know, but than I told him that he didn't have to have a theme. End of story and the party turned out just fine. But wouldn't it have been nice with a superhero theme

Anyway, baby I won't have a big party this year, I don't think he'll appreciate it much. But maybe we can make one or two of the following ideas over the next few years?

From Babble

A cloud piñata  |  En molnpiñata

From Oh happy day!
Cute fruit balloons  |  Skojiga fruktballonger

From Pysselbolaget
Easy peasy and fabulous cake stands  |  Busenkla och fabulösa kakfat

From Martha Stewart
Who doesn't love an obstacle course?  |  Vem gillar inte en hinderbana?

From Apartment Therapy
And the party of my dreams - the Harry Potter party. Well, maybe it's not too late? I do turn forty in a few years...

Happy birthday baby I!  Grattis lilla I!

Five illustrations I pinned last week on Pinterest | Fem illustrationer jag pinnade på Pinterest förra veckan

I started working again last week, after thirteen months of maternity leave (gotta love Sweden!). I really love my job, but it takes some time to get my brain up to speed on work things again. But I'm lucky enough to have a great job in children's book publishing that I love. Maybe that's why I always have loved "childish" illustrations?

From Sköna Hem
I can't really let go of my dream of a summer house just yet. We haven't bought any yet, so for now I'll have to stick with dreaming about the perfect one. Preferably with a sun porch, like this. Or maybe a little smaller...

From Vintage House

A painted wooden floor would be nice.

Ett målat trägolv vore trevligt.

From Ting ute och inne
I don't know about an outdoor shower, wouldn't it be really cold? But with a view like this, why not? If you're not too shy, that is.

From Malin Inredare
I have already printed out a pattern for a tree bench like this. It's a must have.

From Martha Stewart Living
If there isn't a summer house for us, I'll settle for a vacation at Grand Hotel, Mackinac Island in Michigan. I won't leave the porch.

That was five things, right? Well, here are two bonus sun porches. Lovely lovely.

Det var fem saker va? Nåja, här kommer två bonusglasverandor. Fina fina.

Five paper things I pinned on Pinterest - there's a sentence to say quickly a few times...

Paper craft is fun and it's a great material to work with. Hence this week's Pinterest theme. And some inspiration surely came from the awesome site Mr. Printables that I just found. I had a hard time deciding which projects to put in this blog entry, so there will surely be a follow-up to this paper theme.

From Mr. Printables via Babble.com

This one might work well with crafty, calm kids. Alas not mine. But isn't it cute? And the materials and pattern are downloadable for free at Mr. Printables.

From Mr. Printables
Summer is near, and even though this June has been the coldest in Sweden for 84 years, I'm still hoping for warm weather soon. And then I will use fans. Homemade ones.

Hemmagjorda.

From babble.com
Something to make while waiting for the summer trip to Paris? The real one, or the imaginary.

From mmmcrafts

I have always liked to make paper collage cards. These are sweet!

From The Jealous Curator

These paper neighborhoods are do DIE FOR. Such great colors, and what a great idea! Too bad I live on a street with all brown houses that look the same. That won't make the same image at all. This is made by Chloe Fleury, and you immediately have to click on the link above to check out more of her work. It is ridiculously good. Ok, here is a bonus photo of some more of her paperwork (ha ha). See more in Anthology magazine.

Se mer i Anthology Magazine.

Five ways of using houses when decorating for kids | Fem sätt att använda hus i barnrummet

When flipping through my Pinterest pictures, I realized that a house shape often comes up on pictures of playrooms or kids' bedrooms.

Are houses the interior decorating thing right now when it comes to kids' rooms, or is it just me that subconsciously likes houses?

Take a look:

From Honest to nod
A bookcase dollhouse.

From Babble
 A house bookcase...

From Weekday Carnival
 A house bed.

From Kenzie Poo
 A house wall decoration.

From Styleroom
And house closets! Maybe my favorite.

Särskilt i barnrummen.

Summer is coming. And I want to arrange summer parties. This week I've picked out five super inexpensive and easy and awesome DIY party ideas from the gazillion creative bloggers out there.

Let's party!

From Felt & Honey
Have you noticed how everything is about paint dipping now? Well, it's an easy way to bling some disposable wooden cutlery.

From Oh happy day
Here is another way of making disposable things fabulous. These stamped paper cups can be made in any color, and with a potato stamp even.

From Craft & Creativity
I've already tried this idea and it was really easy. Plastic cups + washi tape = party!

From Aunt Peaches

And oh how I love paper flowers. These magnolias are made from a paper plate. Hard to believe, eh?
From Martha Stewart Recipes
And last - this might be a great dessert idea if your party is outdoors, or if you have a buffet. Or maybe you'd want to bring a few of these as hostess gifts? No matter when they're used, I'm sure these mini cheesecake jars will be a hit!

This week I've, as usual, selected five pictures that I've pinned on Pinterest, and since we are redecorating the boys' rooms I am totally into storage of kids' stuff. And we have a LOT of children's books! So I present to you - five awesome ideas for the storing of children's books:

From Vintage
A really good use of a dead corner.

From Sunshine on the inside
Believe it or not, these shelves are made out of vinyl rain gutters!

From On the banks of Squaw Creek, via Babble
Isn't this clever? Great for small spaces, or if you like to rearrange your furniture a lot. No marks on the wall! See how she did it here.

From House of fifty
Who wouldn't want a book tree?

From Dejligheter, via Apartment Therapy
And - I've saved the best for last - this fantastic idea that I'm totally going to copy for baby I's room. A library style drawer-turned-into-book storage! I love it! This way of displaying books is perfect for babies and toddlers, and this looks so much nicer than the Ikea boxes we have had in A's room. I'm so going to construct one of these, pictures will come!

Five kinds of fabric I pinned on Pinterest | Fem tyg jag markerat på Pinterest

I am always searching for nice fabric. I like it colorful, fun, and clear. Here are some of my favorites that I've found lately!
From Simply Grove
Lotta Jansdotter is super talented (and Swedish! I think.) and have launched Echo, a great new fabric collection a couple of months ago. Read more about her here.

From Katherine Codega on Etsy
These ones are made for me. I swear. They have the greatest color scheme going on. I'd like to make more art caddies of them, or maybe finally a needle caddy for me? I simply couldn't make anything that I had to give away though. I want to look at these colors and patterns everyday.

From How About Orange
And these are great! Look at the colors, the design! The wonderful Outside Oslo fabric line by designer Jessica Jones is stunning, and would make great tote bags as shown at Purl Bee. Who has a few of the Outside Oslo fabrics ON SALE. Buy now!

From Purl Soho
From Purl Soho
I couldn't choose, so here are two kinds of fabric from Robert Kaufman's City Centre line. For the kids and for me.

From The Humble Nest
The Humble Nest lists 30 Great Places to buy fabric online, they have great sources and even if you don't want to get your fabric online it's really exciting browsing through it all.

Help me out. What would you make of the fabric above? And what are your fabric favorites?
